Maverick

Mark’s boat, named ‘Maverick’, is a Rustler 36 with hullnumber 000A from 1983. It was designed by Holman & Pye in Cornwall England. It’s a classic ship with outstanding sailing features and a overall length of 10.77 meters. ‘Maverick’ is the first Rustler 26 built. In preparation for the Golden Globe Race the ship has been completely renovated and rebuilt, ensuring it would meet the technical requirements of the race. Amongst other the windows have been replaced, the teak deck has been removed to make the boat less heavy, the trusses have been reinforced and a water-tight shot has been placed in the front of the boat. A SSB radio has been installed, this is used often by long distance sailors as the reach of this short frequency radio is much wider than that of a VHF (which can be used to a max of 30 nautical miles).
